Bidding Adieu

Late Shri. Manoranjan Padhi

When I bid the last goodbye to you

It will be an eloquent wave of the hand;

A reflection of fond memories will

swim in the unseen tears of my eyes,

a flicker of a soft smile will sit on my lips

as a butterfly briefly does on a withering flower.

As I leave, the harsh words I spoke will jar in my ears

Your silences will drift in my uneasy silence

I will pick up your strength and resilience

and make my inadequacies realize their unacknowledged worth.

In my heart's mirror, I will come face to face with my criminal follies and sins

They would fumble to seek a pardon, but don't............

'Cause they deserve to suffer for causing you the pain of misplaced blame.

All my sordid thoughts I will carry with me

They would seem too cumbersome to endure in the end

Perhaps, the mind will then know the many bad vibes that you quelled with your exuberance for a life that I couldn't live!
